seems like only yesterday…

December 1st, 2007 by Mariam

I can’t believe it is already December!

So much has been happening! And not the least of which is all the concerts and meeting so many audience members after each show - that really is one of my favourite parts of performing… the chance to meet people after a show that I otherwise might never have had the opportunity to meet. One fan, for example, who had driven in from Seattle to come to one of my shows in Vancouver, stayed after and it was wonderful to talk to him and hear his story…

I will write more about the concerts soon and also post some more photos - now that I have learned how! Thank you, Jake!!

In the meantime, I wanted to share one of my many photos from Armenia… here is one aspect of how this musical journey began… working with the children at Orran during my second visit to Armenia… here is one photo from that trip, which sometimes seems like yesterday, and sometimes seems like it was ages ago… Here are the children who inspired me, who taught me so much…

More to come…

On October 27, I made the journey from my hometown of Port Angeles,Washington to Vancouver to hear Mariam. I have been captivated by her music for several years now and the chance to meet her and hear her sing was a gift. Her voice and her spirit absolutely speak to my soul. Whether or not one speaks/understands Armenian is irrelevant. Mariam sings from her heart. Her band was stellar and worked with her so well to create a unified soundscape.

I would also like to thank Sarah and Haigo Matossian for their help in my getting to Vancouver and their kindness to me.

I reccommend every Armenian household to have a copy of Mariam Matossian’s latest CD. Her voice captivates any listener and lover of music. It’s an excellent gift to freinds of any ethnic background, particularly for the coming festive season. Have one, nicely wrap it and paste a card written on it “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”

First, I would like to say thank you for creating such beautiful music. Not only do I enjoy your music but my dear mother does as well and it has helped her out during some rather difficult times. Secondly, I am most impressed that you would take the time to personally send an email to your fans. Indeed, not many would do that.

Your music is truly a gift from God. Thank you once again.

    In Christ,
    Alex

I will definatley be giving this as a gift to my mother for Christmas.
