Oh, I love the way things work out…
About a month ago or so I had written about an amazing trio based out of Asheville that I had stumbled upon after a friend had recommended I listen to their drummer, River Guerguerian, on myspace… I remember that first listen: I was mesmerized! And then Gene Berger, from Horizon Records, had also referred us to these musicians… we took that as a sign that these were three guys we just had to meet.
And oh, what a meeting that was. We talked and instantly felt a connection to these guys – River, Chris Rosser and Eliot Wadopian – kind, gracious, funny… and then, we jammed a bit… and I was blown away. Here they were breathing new life into my songs, and everything just seemed to fit beautifully. These guys are so talented!! And we all got pretty excited about the possibility of a collaboration.
Earlier this week, my husband and I drove up to Asheville again – we are falling in love with that city more and more each time! -and met up with the guys and we are going to be performing together for the first time on Saturday, February 7th! The guys call themselves Free Planet Radio and they have invited me to perform a couple of Armenian folk songs with them at Black Mountain in North Carolina. I am thrilled! These guys are amazing. You have to check out their music – you will be hooked: world, jazz fusion with a little bit of everything mixed in… so very cool…
Take a look at the calendar for more information on this show.
