I am so excited about my upcoming concert in Montreal on Sunday, October 7th!

This concert is being organized by the Armenian Medical Association of Quebec (AMAQ) as a benefit to help raise funds for the series of mobile medical and dental clinics that the AMAQ established in Karabagh – Mardakert, Hadrout, Shoushi, and Ghapan. This concert also celebrates the 5th anniversary of these clinics.

Having worked as a volunteer in Armenia with poverty stricken elderly folks, children and orphans, the people of Armenia hold a very special place in my heart. And so, it is truly an honour for me to be involved with the AMAQ and perform in Montreal for this event.

The AMAQ, comprised of a group of dedicated medical professionsals from Quebec (physicians, dentists, pharmacists, etc.), celebrated its 30 year anniversary in December 2005. Since the association’s inception, it has been actively involved in many volunteer projects, both locally and internationally.

In 1988, the AMAQ began to take a more intensive approach in assisting Armenia after the devastating earthquake that occured in that region. At this time, the association collected much needed clothing, food and medicines for the people of Armenia who had suffered such extreme loss. Several volunteers from the AMAQ traveled to Armenia to help the vicitims of the earthquake.

Currently, these passionate, tireless volunteers continue to travel to Armenia and Karabagh to work with families who might otherwise not be able to afford proper medical care. The medical and dental clinics which the association has established are filling a huge need in the local communities.

It has been a joy getting to know some of the committee members through telephone calls and emails as we plan for this benefit concert, and I look forward to meeting them and the other members of the AMAQ in person! This is a group of caring individuals with a sincere desire to serve the Armenian people. And I pray that their efforts continue to be blessed in every way.
