I love Easter.

I love the beauty and truth of the celebration… one of my favourite memories as a child is waking up early Sunday morning and going to the sunrise service at the beach… sometimes we wouldn’t get to the beach early enough to see the actual sunrise (!) but it was always amazing to be there singing together with others about our risen Saviour.

We’d come home and have breakfast – Easter eggs that we’d dyed the night before and of course, Choreg., Armenian Easter bread.

Oh, how I love Choreg!

I decided to make our own Choreg this year – I must be honest, my mom’s is one of the best Choregs around…she has that magic touch with everything she makes…which can be a bit intimidating! But she is also the most encouraging woman I know and loves teaching me everything she knows. After some hours of kneading and waiting, kneading and waiting and then baking… we were thrilled by the result! It was pretty delicious… even my Little One enjoyed a bit of it…

Sunday morning we set our own Easter traditions… eating our choreg and Easter eggs… reading the Easter story and praying together… enjoying family time before our guests came over for lunch… we spent most of the morning preparing for our luncheon listening to Armenian folk music… and we had a great time… good food, good company… church in the evening, being with the people I love…

A very special Easter…
